Extracurricular Activities: Life Outside the Classroom
At Grupo Academia Internacional, we often advise parents with their extracurricular activities selection; just like our academic offer, our electives and clubs are based on STEAM methodology. Whichever activities they choose, will help children boost their soft skills and even make their college application shine. Many high schools, including ours, offer a variety of extracurricular activities worth exploring that will provide every student an advantage in life.
We have listed some of the benefits extracurricular activities can offer.
Extracurricular Activities Help High School Students Prepare for College and Beyond
Extracurricular activities are an essential part of a well-rounded education. They enable students to apply academic skills in a real-world context. Moreover, they allow students to reinforce the lessons learned in the classroom.
If you have a teenager, know that extracurricular activities are critical for college admissions. Many colleges and universities value extracurricular activities because they contribute to developing the "whole student."
However, extracurricular activities benefit all students, regardless of their plans after high school. Employers nowadays prefer to hire well-rounded job candidates. In fact, extracurricular activities are great additions to that first resume.
Please keep reading to learn more about our extracurricular activities and how to choose among the options.
Extracurricular Activities for Students at AIB and AID
As mentioned above, extracurricular activities help students show off their interests and personalities. These activities demonstrate their ability to contribute, stick to their commitments, and manage their time and priorities. No matter what activity they choose, they all go around:

Science - Chemistry in the Kitchen
Chemistry is a science that surrounds us daily, even if we don’t always notice it. In every kitchen, chemical processes are constantly occurring. Something as simple as cutting an apple triggers chemical reactions that change the color of its flesh. We even use chemical reactions when heating sugar to turn it into syrup.
At AIB, “Chemistry in the Kitchen” is one of our students' favorite activities—they absolutely love it!

Technology: Robotics, Minecraft, Roblox and 3D Design & Printing
From coding and online safety to building robots, extracurricular technology classes can help children become experts in this field. Coding classes, for example, help children develop problem-solving skills, logical thinking, and communication. Beyond technical skills, programming fosters soft skills such as organization and perseverance.
At AIB and AID, our technology classes prepare students for the future while enhancing their current learning experience. Please take a look at some of our classes on our Instagram profile.
